show for tonight. I always take a current movie and kind of the work with the title a little bit and I took flight plan and changed it into backup plan because most people don*t have backup plans and want to make sure you do that so. If go over the www.onlinetonight.com you will see that the first item is backup plan as soon as it rebuilt here, we do blogs during the show so if I mention something we usually keep a note of it. If I mention a piece of software or hardware you can usually find the link to it at the website. So either www.onlinetonight.com or because of the show is named the David Lawrence Show during the week the www.davidlawrenceshow.com will take at the same place so there you go. Now Java what is Java, Java just changed everything about the web when Sun created it. James Gosling was the guy at Sun Microsystems that created Java, here a piece of tribute for you it was originally called Oak and that was because of the Oak trees outside of Gosling*s office but it was changed to Java after a while, after the Sun get whole of it and said we can do this. This is basically a programming language that originally was intended to be the replacement for C++, almost everything you use on your computer is written in C++ because it runs on all platforms Windows, Macintosh, Linux whatever. So Java though ended up in a different place and ended up in different place because it was found to be very flexible and very useful for people to use on the web. You know usually when you run an application on your computer like Word or your E-mail client or whatever that*s running on the hard drive of your computer. Java runs on the server that houses the website that you may visit. So it can actually run on a distant computer when you invocate through a website that*s what a Java Applet is all about. Now don*t confuse Java with JavaScript, JavaScript actually came out of Netscape way back when and it was sort of a parallel path but the two aren*t really role that related and they do different thins JavaScript actually resides in the code on the webpage itself rather than on the server so it executes client side is what that is called as oppose to server side. But if you are learning program if you are going up to school to learn programming chances are you certainly begin with Basic. Basic is one of those programming languages that survive to this day it was the first programming language I ever learned. And then you move on to probably FORTRAN PO1 and then move right into objective languages like C, and Java, and so on. And if you are going to learn languages, if you are going to learn programming, once you learn one others are kind of easy for you to grasp because they are built the same, they may have some variances but do learn C and do learn C++ and do learn Java because your market ability as a programmer will a greatly increase. Those are the two main languages used today to build things both on the web and off. So there you go now Java can also run on your local computer so there are couples of Java programs running around that actually run on your computer and for that you need the Java Virtual Machine but that*s yet another Geek Speak for some other day. So Geek Speak Java that is this hour is Geek Speak.

David Lawrence: Whenever I hear that I always want to make sure that the toilet flushes in the studio bathroom. Let*s do some instant messages here and then we will get back to the phones, Stormforu says hey David can I use www.mailblocks.com with Outlook? I hate having to sign on to the Internet it says I can, but will it get be full functions? Yeah you can but I got to tell you I am waving people off of mailblocks now. Ever since AOL blocked them you know mailblock service has
