David Lawrence: I am cheat, that*s my problem. Go ahead.
Nathan Papadopulos: You are trying to drive the price down. We do just drop the price of our entry level remote to a $129.95 but let me tell you a little bit about the market. If you go out and look at some of the Universal Remotes that are out there they are very complex set up and actually after you spend the $500 to buy this touch screen remote control you have to go --
David Lawrence: It*s $500?
Nathan Papadopulos: $500 for some of the remote controls that are out there.
David Lawrence: So then it would seem to me that Logitech is really thinking strategically that a family is frustrated enough with a $9 and 95 cent you know gizmo that they can buy at Kmart. They are frustrated enough with that Universal Remote that $490 is the difference.
Nathan Papadopulos: Well you know this is geared towards more of the high end systems. I mean people are going to put down that type of dollars unless they have a very complex system.
David Lawrence: So you are aiming at if they are satiric you know the prosumer?
Nathan Papadopulos: But the Harmony Remote is actually for everybody. Those $9 Universal Remotes that you are talking about, they are device specific and the thing is they are already pre-programmed. Supposedly they have the IR codes in there but you will take them home and find out that it doesn*t work with your model or VCR.
David Lawrence: That*s the thing. That has happened over and over and over again. They claim there is not a single device that you know but those devices I mean they are manufactured at some point in the past.
Nathan Papadopulos: Yeah.
David Lawrence: It could have been two weeks ago but most likely were several months ago.
Nathan Papadopulos: Yeah so the frustration is you just end up adding another remote control to your, to the collection.
David Lawrence: Right exactly. In fact I think as part of my collection there are no less than 4 Universal Remotes that I got frustrated trying to program only got so far but have the codes for my DVD remote which I lost. So yeah so that*s the part of it. So it seems as though this is a major decision on the part of a family, a couple, a young businessperson that maybe isn*t like a freak about audio and video but wants to have a very convenient system.
Nathan Papadopulos: Well the thing is ---
David Lawrence: I never would have thought the price of one was $500. That*s a lot of money.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
