David Lawrence: You want to have at the very least, at the very least 512 Megabytes. And ideally *

Anne: So is that memory?

David Lawrence: Yes that's memory.

Anne: Okay that's not the stuff, okay memory I have got like 600 but that's not the stuff that's keeping it processing all the time. I hate sounding so stupid about it.

David Lawrence: No, no, that's alright you are not sounding stupid. Just let me walk you through this though. You also need to find out how fast your machine is and then I want to know what you mean by its running slow. What is actually happening when you say its running slow?

Anne: It used to be you would go to, you would click your Hotmail boom the page would open. Now you sit and you watch that little bar go one and two and to the next and then next and then after taking that time it says can't find the page.

David Lawrence: Okay now that may very well be.

Anne: But not just Hotmail. I go to lot of sites. I don't just depend on one.

David Lawrence: I understand. It maybe that your security setting on your browser is so high that you know he is trying to protect you from spam and popup ads and what not. You can eventually get to sites yes?

Anne: Yes.

David Lawrence: Okay so it may just be that its taking its time and won't keep anything in cache and so on. You want to check your security settings and that would be under Internet options.

Anne: I know where that is. It's got a lot on there too.

David Lawrence: Yeah. You have got a lot on there too?

Anne: Yes.

David Lawrence: What does that mean?

Anne: Well I know that he has got well because I used to work in those movie rooms and when I kept stressing that he was going to shut down my system. So he pretty much locked it up so nobody could get in it.

David Lawrence: Okay so that very well maybe what's going on here and I think what you need to do is sit down with your brother and show him what's going on. And say look you have tightened it up so much now you got me at such a high level of security that I can't even go and get my mail. So I need you to fix that.

Anne: Okay.

David Lawrence: But as long as you have got at least 512 Megs of RAM and you are telling me that he rebuilt the machine the last year. Lets hope he put in a fairly quick chip then you should be good to go but I would upgrade that RAM to a gigabyte like you have plenty of space to move but what you are telling me is your definition of running slow sounds to me an awful lot like you just have a very high security setting on your browser and he might need to deal with that.
