Bonnie: It*s an internal one no, no, no.
David Lawrence: So a couple things about the way drives are formatted especially from Mac OS X and I found this out the hard way. I actually bought an external FireWire drive I think you get a 200 Gig external FireWire drive. Whether its internal or external doesn*t really matter but what does matter is there is a limit on the size that a drive can be if it is not formatted in the Macintosh OS HFS Extended Format which is the HFS+ format of 120 Gigs. I bought a 200 Gig and left it as a Windows drive because I wanted to use it as a Windows drive. So it was formatted in NTFS and Mac OS X said no sorry can*t do that. And I had data on there that the computer store had put on from another machine that I had had recovered. So can*t have anything more than a 120 Gigs in a FireWire drive it*s internal.
Bonnie: I can actually see the format now and its Mac OS extended and in parenthesis it says (Journaled).
David Lawrence: Journaled okay so that's good. So then it*s Journaled. Now usually when it comes up with a DSStore error that means that the associated index file that went with it is corrupted. Now what are you putting on there because usually these are large file errors.
Bonnie: Yeah we are putting on large files mostly videos. We cut out the smaller things.
David Lawrence: So that's what's going on here is that the drive is not verifying that the file transfer occurred correctly and further that there is not enough room to put on another large file like the one you are trying to put on because usually what you need is twice as much space as the file you are about to put on.
Bonnie: Okay.
David Lawrence: Because that way it can write it, you can confirm it and if it doesn*t write it right you can try it writing it again in that extra space. That's one way to look at it. It maybe that the drive is bad so how much space do you have left on it you know?
Bonnie: There is a 134.91 Gig left on it.
David Lawrence: And what kind of file you are trying to put on there is it more than 65 or so?
Bonnie: No the biggest one that we tried to put on is about 32 Gig.
David Lawrence: Fine.
Bonnie: Yeah it was doing fine for a while and --.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
