David Lawrence: 7 minutes past the hour thanks for tuning into the show. I appreciate it very, very much. As the young lady said my name is David Lawrence, the name of the show is Online Tonight. We talk about technology; we talk about computers the Internet, online services, your portable devices like iPods and Palm PDAs and Windows Mobile PDAs, your cell phones. We talk about Wi-Fi and Spam and Popup Ads. And if all this stuff just scares you well we want to fix that. We want you not to be so scared about these sorts of things. So here is how you get in touch with me. I have got an open line if you want to jump in right now at 180039 online 18003966546. And we can talk about anything you want. What kind of hardware to buy, what kind of software to buy, what kind of devices you are interested in checking out, the school season is underway, people going back to schools and tips on how to buy for college students, how to buy for elementary and junior high and high school students. Love to talk about all those things Mac versus PC etc. Also more and more people are buying music from iTunes and MSN Music and Rhapsody and Sony Connect and places like that. If you have questions about that sort of things, you have questions about Podcasting. I don*t know if there is anybody Podcasting down in New Orleans. We certainly have the mainstream media down there. But here is where we are finding very, very quickly that Podcasting is not going to be the replacement for mainstream media that everybody who is going ho about Podcasting would have you believe specifically because Podcasting is dependant upon the Internet. And they are getting power is one thing, getting water is one thing, getting food, clothing and shelter is one thing. Getting an Internet connection is something completely different especially from a disaster zone. Now that doesn*t mean that Podcasters can*t help. The Podcasters can be a part of it. In fact if the Podcasters that are able to do their Podcasts would talk about the ways to help people down in the Gulf coast that would be great. And in fact what I have done is I have created a couple of public service announcements that are available for Podcasters to use absolutely free at www.podcastdesign.com. There is two of them there. Both of them promote the Red Cross and their relief efforts in the Gulf Coast after massive hurricane Katrina. But I am wondering how I have been kind of detached from this for the last few days. I have actually been on a shoot and on vacation and I have kind of wondered I haven*t been able to catch up on all my Podcasts to see how the Podcasting community is sort of describing these things. It was easy to Podcast for the London bombings because there was no loss of power yes there was certainly loss of life. But there was no loss of infrastructure and so it was easy to get Podcasts out to the world. Here we have the mainstream media dropping you know Anderson Cooper and Miles O'Brien and what not down into the New Orleans area and doing a whole bunch of human interest stories. But I don*t hear any Podcast coming out of there and in fact there has been some mainstream broadcasters from the New Orleans area that I am not sure where they are. You know we are just now finding out that Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint have been rescued but you know these are things where when you start to decide that mainstream media is dead because Podcasting has reared it's head these are the kinds of things that test whether or not that*s actually true. So we will talk about that. We can talk about Podcast. By the way if you are Podcaster I wish you all the best. I am not in any way, shape of form diminishing Podcasting. I am just saying this is one of those instances where the cheer leading sort of exceeds the actual reality. And if you want those PSAs if you want to use them either on your Podcasts or on
