David Lawrence: Alright seven minutes past the hour. My name is David Lawrence and we will keep you updated as to the breaking stories of both what*s going on in News Orleans hurricane Katrina and also the passing of Justice Rehnquist during the news at the top and bottom of the hours on your local radio station and on the networks that we are on. We appreciate your tuning into the show. This is Online Tonight. We talk technology here. Is this still Pat? Are you hanging in there for me?

Pat: I am still here.

David Lawrence: Okay great okay good alright. So for those of you just tuning in we have an open line by the way. You can jump in at 180039 Online that*s 1800-396-6546. You can send me Email www.david@onlinetonight.com or you can send me instant messages that*s always fun. Screen name is Lawrence on AOL on AOL instant messenger on iChat on ICQ and now on the new G-talk over at Google. They have the ability to slide in with the AOL, with AOL*s permission by the way. But we do have an open line if you want to jump in to get on the air during this hour of the show 180039 Online that*s 1800-396-6546. Before we went to the top of hour break Pat was with us and she has SBC and she got her Norton a couple years back or year back or so and it*s expiring and she wanted to know whether or not it was good idea to stick with it or whether I recommended something other than the Norton. And what I was explaining to you was why I like the Panda. The reason I like Panda is because all viruses try to do the same thing pretty much, they try to screw you up and they do that in various and sundry ways. They will try to open up ports and talk back to the home base where the hacker lives. They will attempt to capture your key strokes and send them off via Email and to do that they will open up an actual Email server on your local machine to send the Email back. They will attempt to capture the use of your machine for massive multitasking duties like denial of service where they turn your machine into a Zombie and then use it against some other website at some point in the future once they have captured the ability to do that they can do it at will without you even knowing. So all of these things when they are in transit have certain, exhibit certain characteristic and those characteristics are the characteristics that Panda*s Technology called TruPrevent actually watches for. They watch for an SMTP Server to be spawned on your machine and mails sent out. They watch for certain ports to be monitored. They watch for all manner of datagram services UDP, TCP, FTP, SMTP these are all ways of getting data off of your machine in various forms with various levels of grace. And so when it starts to watch for all these things processes being spawned and everything it starts to see something that looks and acts and walks and wears the clothes of a virus, it just stops everything and says hold on a second, examines it all and then says to you the user this looks suspiciously like a virus I am not familiar with. May I send this data off to Panda to be analyzed? What*s going on, on your machine? If the option is saying yes or no or automatically saying yes and what it does is it puts Panda in a position with this technology to be far ahead of almost every other Antivirus Software. #1 in protecting your machine and #2 in having their signature file which I am sure you have updated over and over and over again with Norton. That*s the latest definitions of all the different viruses out there. It keeps their definition file up-to-date faster because they actually see this is happening in the wild before anybody else does. So that*s why I like that. Now there is a third option. Instead of replacing Norton altogether you can actually get Panda TruPrevent in the form of an Add on Module for Norton, where you can stick with Norton and you can add this layer on top of it. All of these options are available to you at www.pandachallenge.com.
