Corey: Well we have a DSL connection and the wireless router in a desktop computer and the desktop does work, the Internet connection will work but we also have a Notebook.

David Lawrence: You have got a card plugged into your desktop computer?

Corey: No.

David Lawrence: So you are plugged directly into the router via an Ethernet cable?

Corey: Yes.

David Lawrence: Okay so that*s not even using a wireless function.

Corey: Right.

David Lawrence: Okay go ahead.

Corey: And then the Notebook we have the wireless card plugged into a notebook. But the notebook will not connect to the Internet.

David Lawrence: What happens?

Corey: Well it says that there is a connection to the network but it will like there is I can*t find a way to like when I bring up the Internet Explorer it will not load.

David Lawrence: Right, okay let me stop you. Have you the router that you are using it*s a Linksys router?

Corey: Yes.

David Lawrence: Have you gone on to the Linksys router via the desktop computer and set it up to be enabled for wireless. Do you know how to do that?

Corey: No.

David Lawrence: Because it doesn*t work out of the box. What you do is if you look in your user manual it will tell you that what you do is you go to a particular dotted quad web address, its 192.168.1.1 for all Linksys routers. And it*s in the browser it will be http:// and then this dotted quad number and what will come up is your interface for your router and you can set all the different settings and so on. Be very careful. Follow the manual to the letter because you need to setup a User ID and password for you wireless that*s probably why it is not working because you haven*t set it up yet.
