Laura: I was hoping that you might help me with a suggestion, come up with a suggestion that I can't think of. I am not a techie. I publish a community newsletter that is very simple publication. It*s 2-sided 8_ X11. I have been publishing it for 3 years and I have published it and using Publisher. Historically I have been distributing it via hard copy making copies then snail-mailing them out to people that have expressed an interest in the publication and putting some you know maybe 500 or a 1000 copies around the community.
David Lawrence: And you make a little living with this?
Laura: No.
David Lawrence: Oh you don*t. You didn*t need your --.
Laura: No but I get a lot of satisfaction from doing it and I am promoting healthy dining in Chicago.
David Lawrence: Okay great.
Laura: But what I would like to do I don*t have a website at this point in time and what I would like to is I would like to get more copies into people*s hands. A lot of people have said to me hey can you just like shoot me a copy every month. But many people don*t like attachments. So I am trying to come up with a clever way and I use to have a very old computer. Somebody was gracious enough to donate a computer to me but what happens is as you know you can transfer files but you can't transfer programs. So --.
David Lawrence: And you shouldn*t do that and you are right. So I have got a solution for you. This is great. This is a great question by the way.
Laura: Oh great.
David Lawrence: So here is what you should do. Get a website number 1 and you can do it so easily. I mean you can go to GoDaddy and you can get a website up in an hour if you know how. If you don*t know how it might take you little longer than that but GoDaddy is very easy and its $4 a month for their low and that*s all you need is their lowest package. Plus if you use SAVETEN as your promo code you know you will save 10%. So it*s even less expensive than that. You can pay in advance a year and you will spend even less money. You will need to get a domain. So you know www.laura*slocalnewsletter.com or come up with a goofy or descriptive domain name and register that. That will cost you $4 for the year. So it*s not that expensive to do. Now once you do that then there is couple of other paths you can take. You can also go over to www.typepad.com. TypePad is sort of a service bureau version of blogging software. You don*t need your own server. You don*t need to install any software. You don*t need to buy it. You simply pay them again about $4 a month and you have your own website and it*s a blog and it*s perfect for you. In fact if I were to send you towards TypePad you would do very well there.
Laura: And it*s Tightpad?
David Lawrence: No, Type.
Laura: Oh Type.
David Lawrence: Pad.
Laura: Pad.
David Lawrence: Correct.
Laura: Okay. I was thinking like Tightpad.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
