David Lawrence: And they only record audio CDs which means, they are only be playable on audio CD players. So it*s a special format of CD rather than a normal standard CD which will play anywhere car, a standalone CD player, DVD player etc. So let me just finish the process and I think you will find this is what you are looking for. So you plug that that headphone jack that has been you know a cable from the headphone jack to the sound inputs on a PC. And then you use a piece of software like sound recorder or Audacity or Adobe Audition which is used to be called Cool Edit. There is also some specialized software that will take in a cassette or a album and separate the tracks out that costs you money though, that*s about $70 you can get that from the company that purchased all of Roxio Software Sound Forge. And then what you do is you just sort of pour the audio by playing back off the cassette into the machine. You start it recording you start the PC software rolling. Started recording and then you left the audio go into the PC that digitizes it.

Carol: Oh, it goes into line in.

David Lawrence: Exactly line in and then it gets written to the hard drive as data.

Carol: Okay.

David Lawrence: Right then that data gets written on to a CD in the last step where you actually burn those tracks on to a CD, now how much time on each one of these cassettes?

Carol: Well anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

David Lawrence: Okay so obviously you will have to determine how many CDs you will need and how you will split it differently. You can actually do 45 minutes a side which is what the 90 minute cassette would be. You can do one on each CD. You need 2 CDs one for each side of the cassette.

Carol: Okay.

David Lawrence: The limit is either going to be 70 minutes or 80 minutes depending upon what size CD you get. But in a nutshell you really do need unless you want to spend the money for a recorder, you really do want to use a computer to do this because then you can also save them as mp3. Who knows in the future what you might want to do with this audio. But I am interested what led you to believe that there was a really cheap inexpensive non-computer option. Were just were you just hoping--

Carol: Oh I just was dreaming that that could be *
