David Lawrence: Okay and of coarse your cell phone is being very, very well timed in giving the exact word I am looking for in your conversation is being bricked out. You are not able to boot into normal mode which you should be able to do no problem once you upgrade the service pack 2. And you have got the upgrade what I would do is at this point I might reformat just to save yourself a whole bunch of time. On the other hand if you want to try to experiment and see what*s going on let me ask you a question. Did you actually take the Microsoft survey to see how ready for service pack 2 you were?

Sam: No.

David Lawrence: Okay this is a word otherwise to anybody who is still waiting to upgrade the Service Pack 2. If you go to the www.microsoft.com site and you go to the upgrade area and you look at Service Pack 2 they actually have a checklist a quick quiz or survey that you take where they ask you, do you have this type of chip? Do you have this type of machine? Do you have this kind of software? Have you disabled this? Have you unabled that? Are you ready to go with this, have you backed up and all that. I would not upgrade the service pack 2 unless you come through that survey squeaky clean. And if you don*t if you have some goofy things on your machine that might be hinky as they say in Cleveland. You might now want to do the service pack 2 upgrade until you can get those things squared away. At this point since you know that you can*t boot normally and you know that one of the options is to wipe the drive and circum-scratch I would do that. Because certainly service pack 2 is designed to upgrade a clean install as well. So we do a clean install of XP and then you do the service pack on the download if you have the service pack upgrade disk you should be good to go alright.

Sam: Alright.

David Lawrence: I appreciate it I know you would not be able to through just a switch and have it work right. But in this case it might be the best thing if you cut and bake rather than this. We will take a break we will be right back at Online Tonight.
