David Lawrence: Okay so that*s Office. That*s Office. And a lot of people kind of get that mixed up because Works is sort of the all in one integrated one application does all four of those things whereas Office is the separate Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. It depends on what version you have. But what strikes me is odd is we went during the break, we went to www.walmart.com to look for Office to see you know if they were selling it or not. They didn*t even seem to be selling the Professional Edition or the Standard Edition. So I am not sure whether or not was there more than one copy of the Student Teacher edition on the shelf?
Martin: I think I saw two copies there.
David Lawrence: Really interesting.
Martin: And yeah and I saw the warning like you have to be either a student or teacher to --.
David Lawrence: Okay alright so maybe what they do is they train their checkout people up the front to say look if somebody tries to buy this just ask to see their school ID, ask to see their teacher*s ID, the union card whatever ask to see their student ID and if they don*t if they can*t produce it tell them look we are not supposed to sell it you. I don*t know what their policy is. They may be selling through Wal-Mart. I am not quite sure but the differences are nil. The big difference is between the Standard and the Professional package which includes database development tools and includes .NET and includes some other items. But the difference, this is what makes it such a great deal because it*s about 1/3 the cost of the normal standard package for Office. So if you are in the educational community, if you are a teacher, if you are a student the big joke that back when Steve Jobs was starting NeXT and everybody wanted one of these NeXT boxes and all they were doing was working with universities. Somebody said well how do I get one of these? And Steve Jobs* one word answer is matriculate. Go take a class. You know become part of the educational community. If you are taking one class at a community college, you qualify. If you are teaching, if you are teaching at the learning annex, you qualify. You are part of the educational community and very proudly you can take advantage of the fact that it really costs a lot less to get the educational version of the software. So that*s about all I know about it.
Martin: So it*s worth taking up then --.
David Lawrence: Yeah.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
