David Lawrence: Yes at least for now.

Ted: Yes and I have a firewall in the Ad-Aware that I got you know using your name.

David Lawrence: Let me briefly explain for those of you that don*t know slowly but surely America Online is getting rid of there broadband services all across the country and going back to concentrating on dial-up. It*s you know it*s there decision and they have started the south, they are putting people with other vendors, but go ahead what*s your question?

Ted: I want to know if when I am offline, is my connection open?

David Lawrence: When your computer is shut off?

Ted: No, no when I am offline just at my desktop doing --

David Lawrence: You are always online whether you have a browser open or an E-mail client open or not, you are always online. If your machine is booted and you are on a Broadband Service, you are online. If you have cable, you have DSL. If you have a T1 line installed in your building that you share, you are online at all times.

Ted: So it*s in order to the safe I should pull the power plug on the modem?

David Lawrence: No, you are going to shut your machine down. If you shut your machine down then you are not connected. You don*t have to pull the cable, but hold on I will find out what you are trying to do here when we came back alright. Hang one second, its more Online Tonight just ahead.
