David Lawrence: Microsoft is the power behind the largest corporation in the world and they need a much hardy version of the software than what you would need in your home. Now having said that I believe that XP Professional is the better of the two. It is more stable by design and it has more support and here is why as IT professionals use XP Professional and find the problems with it. They post things about it on the web, you will find literary millions of support messages on the web if you look for them for XP Home. You will find exponentially more for XP Professional. Because it is deployed on so many machines.

Rich: I see.

David Lawrence: But it is also more expensive. So I would say that unless you absolutely need it, you shouldn*t spend the extra money.

Rich: Well you just used word processing and*.

David Lawrence: Yeah well that*s now you have a different problem though if you don*t have XP yet you need to make sure that your machine will operate XP cleanly. I don*t mean just barely operated I mean operated well. If your machine is currently running Windows 98.

Rich: Yes it is.

David Lawrence: Then you probably cannot run XP on your machine. There are those who will argue with me and say oh you can run XP on a Pentium 2 with 133 and 128 megs of RAM and. Don*t listen to those people because they are crazy. They are absolutely out of their minds.

Rich: Well I have a Pentium2 300.

David Lawrence: That*s still not enough the minimum requirements that Microsoft says is a Pentium 2 333. But that is a lab tech machine in the middle of the room with nothing else near it, nothing else running on it that they barely got XP to run on. If you want the same kind of experience the same kind of response from your machine you want to get a new machine that has at least 512 Megs of RAM a gig if you can afford it and almost everybody can because RAM is pretty cheap. You want a large hard drive and you want a fast chip, 1.3 Meg or better, alright.

Rich: Okay thank you so much.

David Lawrence: I don*t want to have you sit there and go, yeah it works but it slow as mollusces, right.

Rich: Alright thanks again.

David Lawrence: I appreciate Rich 1800 39 online is our telephone number 18003966546 let*s go to Arthur. Arthur are you there?

Arthur: Yes hi David thank you for taking my call.

David Lawrence: I can*t help myself, how can I help you?
