Now back to the phones and Arthur was hanging on wanting to do some interesting things with a new machine that you are picking up is that right Arthur?
Arthur: Well I am looking at getting a new one.
David Lawrence: Okay. When you started talking about RAID and hard drives and so on and I wanted to bring someone on the air with us, who knows a lot more about this than most people do including me and that's Max Smart from the Family Tech Show. In the previous life, he actually ran a company that did RAID Array software. So Max ,are you there?
Max: Yes good evening.
David Lawrence: Alright terrific. Arthur now you wanted to talk about RAID 0 in a laptop and we have talked about striping and you thought that it would be faster and so why don*t you give Max what you are thinking and then Max can come in, how*s that?
Arthur: Sure. Well it*s not overly technical on what I am doing. What I am looking to do is when I get this new laptop just to speed up the booting up process and then I am over there are truck driver I use Mapping programs and try to speed those up little bit. That's where a friend of mine suggested, hey if this laptop you are looking at offers this RAID why don*t you think about doing map so that's why I am calling to get your opinion.
David Lawrence: What do you think?
Max: I am actually curious which laptop he has that will hold multiple hard drives because right now the trend is those small drives through Toshiba or someone like that are usually 5400 RPM drives and you can only fit one in there. So if you can do two drives you will get a little bit of a speed benefit but in general you usually limit it to the rotation speed of those drives so it may not be as much of a bump as you would hope.
David Lawrence: What Mapping software are you talking about by the way?
Arthur: DeLorme.

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
