David Lawrence: So I was not mistaken that (a) Comcast does now offer DSL but all they are doing is reselling over the phone lines like any other vendor would, right?

Dave: No, it*s through the cable line. And they are getting ready to launch I know Voice over IP, I believe it*s--

David Lawrence: So explain to me how digital subscriber loop works over cable?

Dave: Basically it*s tied into our main hub and they set the port amplifier. Port amplifier is in the field to work in reverse and the modem just gets jump through each amplifier of the main hub then it*s right, it*s right they head into the routers.

David Lawrence: So, if I am understanding correctly you are making 3 rights to go left. When you could just as easily offer cable direct data service over cable, you are actually taking and layering another technology on top of your data transfer on the cable to make it DSL. Is this a marketing move?

Dave: No, it*s on the cable line. I mean there is so much bandwidth on the cable line that they have plenty room to throw a high speed data in there.

David Lawrence: Right, no I understand that but again I am not trying to be stupid here, I am just trying to understand. Digital subscriber loop is usually a technology that only works over phone lines designed to handle them that are close enough to a central office to be able to do it.

Dave: Right.
