David Lawrence: That*s correct iDVD will only work with the super drive, the combo super drive that is shipped with the Macintosh. Now on the other hand the external DVD burner that you got is what a Sony or a, what is it?

Rene: I think it*s an HP.

David Lawrence: And you have hooked this up successfully to a Macintosh?

Rene: Yes I can see it I mean it was.

David Lawrence: Okay the definition of successfully means it isn*t just sitting there as some device that it kind of recognizes but it can*t really use.

Rene: No I burned data to it on just using Toast you know just burning some data like.

David Lawrence: Okay so then great so Toast if you have the current version of Toast it will also burn video files to DVD. Now the other thing you can do is you can make a Video CD which oddly enough will be better for you in the long run and I will tell you why.

Rene: Okay.

David Lawrence: The DVDs that you will burn on a Apple machine with a compatible DVD player and a DVD burner and I am not sure that the HP DVD burner is fully compatible with Apple in fact I am tending to think not. If you burn a VCD or Video CD that will have far larger and more universal playing capabilities than the particular format that your burner happens to handle. I believe that I don*t know who gave you the advice to buy the HP Burner externally for the Macintosh but I.

Rene: Well a friend of mine is using her successfully you know and she.

David Lawrence: On a Macintosh?

Rene: Yeah she puts it together I mean she uses Mac MPC.

David Lawrence: I don*t think she is able it would be very surprising to me if she is using anything internal to the Apple Core Application set. She may be using premiere she may be using some sort of third party software but I don*t think she is using any thing that you would normally find on a typical Mac users desktop. She also might be using virtual PC.
