Steve: When I do it that way the printer doesn*t communicate with the printer.

David Lawrence: And have you tried the other way round, plug into printer and then plug into scanner into the printer.

Steve: Okay plugging, okay.

David Lawrence: Okay you have 2 options here you can either plug the printer in and plug the scanner into the printer or you can plug the scanner and then plug the printer into the scanner.

Steve: Okay now I have.

David Lawrence: So try both ways. In either case if doesn*t work you might want to check the dip switches. Because in the old days with parallel connections there would be dip switch settings for pass through or termination. And so you want to check that and see. Now in the long run you are going to want to upgrade to USB. You will only be able to do USB1 on 98 SE. But eventually you will want to get rid of those old devices and use something that has a USB connected to it. And if you have problem in those cases it*s usually a power problem, powered hubs will hub out but that*s what I would suggest you do. 180039 online is our telephone number 18003966546 we lost a call that I wanted to talk about Dustin was calling in and saying that SSL isn*t as secure as you say it is. And let me be clear about something when I spoke about SSL Secure Sockets Layer, I am not quite sure what impression Dustin, what I am sorry what? Oh he is alright Dustin what is your issue?

Dustin: Actually I was going to talk to you a little bit about SSL. I know that you had been talking about that this evening. And I didn*t know how aware you are some of the hacks that work around on SSL that as far as transparent proxy especially like people that use a lot of wireless access point.

David Lawrence: Let*s, let*s backup a second okay first of all when I mentioned this SSL Secure Sockets Layer has gone through several iterations over the last year in dealing with the WAP inconsistencies that are out there with wireless. Wireless has also changed to the 802.11 standards and has changed to a brand new standard as well. But SSL is for the most part a fairly secure way to do business on the Internet. And certainly more secure when handing your Credit Card to a waiter who can disappear around the corner run it through a swiper without any sort of inscription at all and steal your entire Credit base.
