VOX is studio shorthand for "voice," or "voiceover." From the Latin, but probably not anything to do with its use.
Studio engineers have limited time, and they tend to use shorthand. VOX is one of several very short references to certain parts of programming and scripts. Others include EFX, MX and WX. Any idea what those might be? You can look them up in the Geekspeak section!

• In the Realm of Fairies
My week (and brain) has been filled with fairies, orbs, healers, telepaths and more fairies. Last week, Spokesman-Review writer Kevin Graman and I headed to a scenic meadow nestled at the foothills of the North Cascades Mountains in Washington state. Here 250 people gathered for the 9th Annual Fairy and Human Relations Congress?a workshop driven event?dedicated connecting the human world to the fairy realm. OK, before you scoff, I was amazed at the dedication these people have towards their new

As is typical for me at the end of the school year, my to-do list has a pile of publishing projects that I?ve put off to the last minute. So I?ve spent the last month knocking things off the list with general success ? I revised an essay on Lostpedia that will be coming out in the next issue of Transformative Works and Cultures , and contributed a short piece to a roundtable on genre for Mediascape . But my main writing has been focused on an essay for an anthology called Intermediality
• The annual search for bank robber Sam Bass
Part of the annual Round Rock, Texas Frontier Days July 4 celebration is a fun costumed reenactment of the 1878 Sam Bass Shootout . The infamous bank robber Sam Bass was fatally shot by lawmen in Round Rock, and his name is plastered on things all over town including my son?s former baseball fields. Actors used to stage the shootout reenactment downtown until the event became too popular, so it?s now held three times a day in pretty Old Settler?s Park during Frontier Days. There?s a f
• Rachel Fox Interviews Winnie the Pooh & Tigger
Rachel Fox uploaded a new video on Youtube, showing off the behind-the-scenes of her upcoming project Adventures in Odyssey . During a break from her work as Anna in the film, Rachel interviewed Jim Cummings, better known as the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger . ? Voiceover is cool because it doesn?t matter if you?re having a bad hair day or you look a mess. You just go into the booth and do your thing! ? explained Rachel regarding her passion and love for recording voice work in

After a 30 year career on radio in markets from New York to San Francisco to satellite and network, David H. Lawrence XVII decided to make a change. He hung up his headphones and retired from hosting 3 network/satellite radio shows to head to Los Angeles, to concentrate solely on acting in front of the camera.
Lili VonSchtupp* needed a fresh start. She moved to Washington DC and got her dream job. "I did affiliate relations for Online Tonight with David Lawrence. I slowly worked my way into the producer's chair by impressing David with my assets. (not those assets), my ability to make a CAT5 cable Ethernet cable, type (those of you in the chat room-shut up!) and work a phone system.
